Restul e interpretare." · · · II. Cercetare academica — Clothing and Textiles Efectul elementelor de design vertical si al diviziunilor de proportie asupra inaltimii percepute Studiu publicat in Clothing and Textiles Research Journal, 2019. In istoria puterii vestimentare, umarul a fost intotdeauna central. Cercetare — Enclothed Cognition „Enclothed cognition" — Adam, H. & Galinsky, A.D. Publicat in Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, vol. 48, nr. 4, 2012. ◆Umarul exagerat (sculptural) — prezent in colectiile editoriale. Creeaza autoritate vizuala extrema, dar reduce purtabilitatea. Rezervat contextelor unde prezenta vizuala primeaza asupra confortului. Talia joasa (low-rise) produce efectul invers — alungeste torsul, scurteaza picioarele vizual. Instrument cheie · · · VI. Niciodata 1:1.

Sandalele bune se simt bine in primele cinci minute. „Sandalele pot parea confortabile in magazin si totusi sa provoace daune in timp, daca le lipseste suportul biomecanic corect." Flexibilitatea este corecta doar in zona degetelor.

Neuro-perfumery: Molecules that can instantly lower your cortisol

Smell is the only sense with direct access to the amygdala — the brain's emotional center — without passing through a cognitive filter. While eyes, ears, and skin send signals through the thalamus, olfactory molecules reach the limbic system directly in less than a second. This is not a metaphor. It's anatomy. Neuro-perfumery — the term that began appearing in specialized publications and on premium brand labels in 2025–2026 — is the branch that applies precisely this knowledge: which specific molecules act on which receptors, how they reduce cortisol, how they activate GABA-A receptors, how they modify heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV). Not "the smell of lavender calms you" — but "linalool in lavender and bergamot activates GABA-A receptors, reducing sympathetic nervous system activity." "Scent reaches the amygdala before you consciously process that you've smelled something. The emotional reaction precedes thought." I. The 4 molecules with scientifically documented mechanisms Peer-reviewed research has identified several compounds with measurable physiological effects. These are not "perfume notes that smell good" — they are molecules with documented mechanisms of action in clinical studies. α-Santalol Sandalwood Modulates the HPA axis (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal) — the system that controls cortisol production. Studies show measurable reductions in serum cortisol through inhalation. Cortisol ↓ Linalool Lavender, bergamot, coriander Activates GABA-A receptors — the same receptors targeted by benzodiazepines (anxiolytics). Reduces anxiety through similar mechanisms, but without side effects. GABA-A activated Cedrol Cedarwood Increases vagal tone and activates the parasympathetic nervous system — the body's "rest mode." Reduces heart rate and improves HRV in controlled studies. Parasympathetic ↑ Beta-Ionone Violets, roses, raspberries Terpenoid compound with documented anti-stress effect. A 2024 study showed a reduction in serum cortisol levels upon inhalation, in combination with bergamot and lavender. Anti-stress · · · II. What happens in the brain in the first 60 seconds When you inhale an active molecule, the olfactory bulb sends signals simultaneously to the amygdala (emotion and stress), hippocampus (memory), and hypothalamus (hormones, including cortisol). The entire circuit activates before the neocortex — the rational part of the brain — processes that "you smelled something pleasant." This is the fundamental difference between neuro-perfumery and classical aromacology. The effect is not psychological — it does not depend on whether you "like" the smell or on personal associations. Molecules with documented receptor-specific mechanisms produce measurable physiological effects regardless of olfactory preference. What this means in practice ◆You don't have to "believe" that a fragrance works for it to act on a physiological level. ◆The effect appears in seconds, not minutes — the olfactory-limbic pathway is the fastest sensory pathway to the emotional system. ◆Consistency matters — repeatedly associating a scent with a physiological state creates a conditioned reflex that amplifies the effect over time. ◆The concentration of the molecule in the perfumed formula determines the intensity of the effect — not every fragrance with "sandalwood notes" contains α-santalol in an active concentration. · · · III. What perfumes to look for — practical guide Not all perfumes with "lavender notes" contain sufficient concentrations of linalool. And not all sandalwood perfumes contain natural α-santalol — synthetic sandalwood (Iso E Super, Javanol, Sandalore) has its own molecular profile, different from natural. Here are the categories of perfumes where you can find relevant concentrations of active molecules: Perfumes with certified Australian or Indian sandalwood Look for: "Australian Sandalwood" or "Mysore Sandalwood" on the label Contain natural α-santalol in high concentration. Avoid perfumes that only list "sandalwood accord" — it's synthetic and doesn't have the same mechanism. Cortisol ↓ Eaux de cologne and perfumes with real bergamot Look for: "Bergamot FCF" (furocoumarin-free) Real bergamot is one of the richest natural sources of linalool. Classic Italian colognes and neroli-bergamot perfumes are the most accessible sources. GABA-A Perfumes with Atlas or Virginia cedarwood Look for: "Cedarwood Atlas" or "Virginia Cedarwood" Atlas cedarwood has the highest concentration of cedrol among all cedar variants. Woody-oriental perfumes with quality cedar are the most effective for parasympathetic activation. HRV ↑ Dedicated neuro-perfumery brands Aerchitect, Charlotte Tilbury Fragrance Collection, DSM-Firmenich emotiOn The first generation of perfumes explicitly formulated around neuroscientific mechanisms, with calibrated concentrations of active molecules and clinical documentation. Neuroperfume · · · IV. The honest caveat — what we don't know yet Neuro-perfumery is real at the level of individual molecules. The mechanisms of α-santalol, linalool, cedrol, and beta-ionone are peer-reviewed and documented. The honest scientific caveat: most studies are at the level of isolated compounds, not at the level of complex perfumed formulas. The interactions between dozens of molecules in a complete perfume are still little studied. In other words: we know that α-santalol reduces cortisol. We do not know with certainty if a perfume containing α-santalol along with 40 other molecules produces the same effect at the same intensity. This is an important distinction that serious brands acknowledge — and which less serious ones ignore in marketing.

Quasso Investigation: Why do cheap linen shirts actually cost you more?

When temperatures rise above 30 degrees Celsius, the linen shirt becomes the centerpiece of any refined wardrobe. It's light, breathable, and offers that relaxed elegance, perfect for scorching summer days. However, if you enter the large fast-fashion stores in malls, you'll quickly find options that seem incredibly tempting at first glance: linen shirts (or "linen blends") at affordable prices, around 150 lei. At the opposite pole, premium brands or niche workshops charge between 450 and 600 lei for a similar design. The natural question arises: Is it worth paying three times more for a simple white shirt? The Quasso Insights team conducted an investigation beyond the label and put down the real math of quality. The results might permanently change the way you view your shopping budget. The Anatomy of a Textile Failure: What are you actually buying for 150 lei? To sell a shirt for 150 lei and generate profit, large retail chains must make huge compromises in three critical areas: fiber, construction, and finishes. Short fiber and synthetic blends: Poor quality linen uses short fibers, remnants from the industrial production process. To further reduce costs, linen is often mixed with cheap polyester or viscose. The result? The material becomes stiff, no longer allows the skin to breathe efficiently, and pills after the first few wears. Seam tension: Mall shirts are assembled at industrial speeds. The number of stitches per centimeter is reduced, and the threads used are thin. Linen is inherently a rigid fiber that does not stretch. If the seams are not reinforced, after just a few abrupt movements or after 3-4 washing cycles, the material begins to give way and tear, usually in the armpit or elbow area. Aggressive chemical treatments: To appear soft to the touch on the store shelf, cheap shirts are treated with resins and chemical softeners that wash out after the first interaction with water. After that, the shirt becomes rough, scratchy, and completely loses its shape, becoming impossible to iron correctly. The Math in the Dressing Room: 3-Year Financial Analysis Let's put aesthetics aside and talk strictly in numbers. Many shoppers believe they save money by choosing the cheap option. Let's do a simple calculation based on reality: a mall shirt rarely survives an entire season without tearing, yellowing, or irrevocably deforming. Scenario A: The Fast-Fashion Trap (Quantity) You're tired of replacing clothes every year, but you keep buying from the mall. Over 3 years, due to rapid wear, you're forced to buy approximately 10 cheap shirts in total to always have a decent option available. Calculation: 10 shirts $\times$ 150 lei = 1,500 lei Result: After 3 years, you've spent a considerable amount and are left with compromised clothes in your wardrobe, torn or only fit for wearing around the house. Scenario B: The Quasso Smart Investment (Quality) You decide to ignore mall offers and invest in 3 premium linen shirts, made from long-fiber linen (such as Irish or Italian linen), with double French seams and mother-of-pearl buttons. The price of such a piece is 450 lei. Due to the raw quality of the material, these 3 shirts will last without problems for several years, even becoming softer and more pleasant to the touch with each wash. Calculation: 3 shirts $\times$ 450 lei = 1,350 lei Result: You spent less money overall, and during all this time, you wore a piece with an impeccable structure that drapes fluidly on the body and offers real thermal comfort. Cost-per-Wear (CPW): True savings are measured in the number of wears. A 150 lei shirt you wear 5 times before it tears has a cost of 30 lei per wear. A 450 lei shirt you wear for 3 summers (approx. 60 wears) has a cost of only 7.5 lei per wear. Quality is, mathematically, cheaper. How to recognize a premium linen shirt before buying it? If you decide to invest 450 lei in a shirt, make sure you're paying for textile performance, not just a brand logo. Here's what you need to check: Fabric weight and density: Hold the shirt up to the light. Quality fabric has small, uniform natural slubs but is not transparent like a sheet of paper. You should feel a certain weight to the material. Interior seams: Turn the shirt inside out. If you see frayed edges, loose threads, or single stitches at the shoulders, put the item back on the shelf. Premium brands use English or French seams, perfectly enclosed, which protect the material from fraying. Buttons: Avoid shiny, cheap plastic buttons. Quality shirts use natural mother-of-pearl buttons or bone/wood buttons, attached with "shanks" to withstand tension. Quasso Insights Conclusion Buying less, but better, is not just an ecological slogan, but a highly effective financial strategy. The 150 lei linen shirt from the mall is designed to fail quickly to send you back to the store next season. This summer, break the vicious cycle of disposable clothes. Invest in 2 or 3 remarkable pieces, forget the worry of clothes that fall apart after the first month, and enjoy the authentic sophistication of a material that ages beautifully. How many linen shirts have you had to discard in recent years due to poor quality? Share your experience in the comments.

Pearl, The Jewel of Life

Fashion & Jewelry · ART TO WEAR The Pearl,Living Gem From the ocean depths to family heirlooms — everything you need to know about the noblest gem of feminine elegance Jewelry & Style There are jewels that shine through artifice and jewels that shine through story. The pearl belongs to the second category — the only precious stone created by a living organism, a masterpiece of nature that humans have worn for thousands of years. Cleopatra dissolved them in vinegar to impress. Coco Chanel democratized them. Audrey Hepburn immortalized them on screen. And yet, today, the market is flooded with imitations. Do you truly know what you’re wearing around your neck? "A natural pearl is the only accessory that does not age — but patinates." I. Anatomy of a pearl — what lies within A natural pearl forms when a foreign body — a grain of sand or a parasite — penetrates a mollusk. In response to irritation, the mollusk secretes nacre, a mixture of crystalline calcium carbonate and organic proteins, deposited in concentric layers, year after year. The result, after years or decades, is a sphere of almost impossible perfection. Cultured pearls follow the same biological process — the difference is that the nucleus is intentionally introduced by humans. The most valuable are Akoya (Japan), South Sea (Australia, Philippines), and Tahitian pearls. Freshwater pearls, predominantly cultivated in China, are more accessible and extremely varied. Fake pearls, on the other hand, are simple glass, plastic, or ceramic beads coated with an iridescent lacquer that mimics the pearlescent appearance — with no connection to biology or the seas and oceans. · · · II. Tests of elegance — how to distinguish authentic from fake You don't need a gemologist for the initial checks. A few simple gestures will reveal the truth behind any pearl. 🦷 The Tooth Test Gently rub the pearl against the edge of a front tooth. A real pearl will feel slightly gritty, granular — due to the aragonite crystals. A fake pearl slides perfectly and blandly. 💡 The Light Test Hold the pearl against strong light. An authentic pearl will show depth, complex iridescence, and variations in tone. A fake will look flat, uniform, almost plastic. ⚖️ The Weight Test Natural and cultured pearls have a specific weight — they feel dense and cool to the touch. Plastic ones are much lighter; glass ones are slightly heavier than they should be. 🔍 The Hole Test With a magnifying glass, examine the stringing hole. On real pearls, the edges are sharp, and the nacre layer is visible. On imitations, chipped lacquer or a homogeneous, different core is often observed. If you have serious doubts or plan a significant purchase, a certified GIA gemologist can perform X-ray tests — the only method that definitively differentiates a natural pearl from a cultured one. · · · III. Where to buy authentic pearls — a guide for the informed buyer The source matters as much as the stone itself. Here's where you can buy with confidence, regardless of budget: Traditional jewelers with GIA certification Look for stores that are members of national jewelers' associations. Always ask for the certificate of authenticity and a detailed invoice specifying the type of pearl. Recommended Mikimoto, Tasaki, Autore The major Japanese and Australian pearl houses — the industry's gold standard. Premium prices, impeccable quality, lifetime guarantee. Luxury Majorca Pearls (Mallorca, Spain) Surprisingly: Majorica pearls are high-quality imitations — but officially recognized as such. Beautiful and accessible, provided you know what you're buying. Noble Imitation Pearl Paradise, The Pearl Source (online) Specialized online retailers with a solid reputation, detailed macro photographs, and clear return policies. Online Christie's, Sotheby's, Bonhams auctions For unusual natural pearls or historic necklaces. Each lot comes with independent gemological reports. Collection Avoid with caution: pearls sold in street markets, at prices far below market value, or without any documentation. An authentic 12mm South Sea pearl cannot cost 30 lei. · · · IV. Grading value — what makes a pearl more precious Luster is the most important attribute — a high-quality pearl reflects light like a mirror, with vibrant brilliance and depth. The surface must be as clean as possible, without visible spots, scratches, or irregularities. A perfect spherical shape is the rarest and most valuable, although baroque and drop shapes have their own distinct charm. Size matters: each additional millimeter in diameter can double the price. And finally, nacre thickness determines longevity — a cultured pearl with a thin layer of nacre will lose its luster in a few years. Pearls do not function as speculative investments, but as objects of aesthetic heritage. Their value is not dictated by market volatility, but by rarity, construction, and cultural permanence. Unlike diamonds, gold, or collectible watches — assets with much more liquid and standardized global markets — pearls are evaluated in a more nuanced and subjective way. This does not mean that they cannot have investment value. Rare natural pearls, perfectly matched necklaces, or vintage pieces with important provenance can reach impressive values and appreciate over time. However, most pearls are not bought for quick returns, but for their long-term aesthetic relevance. It is precisely this visual stability that transforms them into a form of smart luxury — a type of value built over time, not around hype. Pearls do not follow trends and do not try to attract immediate attention. They remain relevant precisely because they have managed to traverse eras, styles, and generations without losing their refinement. The Ritual of Care — how to keep pearls alive ◆Put pearls on last, take them off first — perfume, hairspray, and perspiration can damage their nacre. ◆Clean them after each wear with a soft cotton cloth, lightly dampened with clean water. ◆Never leave them in airtight boxes — nacre needs humidity; a silk pouch is ideal. ◆Restring necklaces at the jeweler every 2–3 years, or more often if worn regularly. ◆Protect them from ultrasound, steam, and chemicals — including chlorine in pools. · · · V. The Pearl Atlas — differences between natural types Not all pearls are created equal. Provenance, sea, mollusk, and climate leave distinct imprints on luster, color, and character. Saltwater Cultured Pearls — the most prized Cultured in the sea, with a human-introduced nucleus, but with nacre deposited biologically — sometimes for years. Classic Akoya Pearl Japan · China The classic standard of elegance — spherical, white or cream, with an unmistakable metallic luster. Preferred for traditional necklaces and fashion houses. Size6–9 mm Colorwhite, cream, pink MolluskPinctada fucata Approx. price€300 – €5,000 Rarest South Sea Pearl Australia · Philippines · Indonesia The largest and most valuable cultured pearl. Thick nacre layer, velvety luster, colors from silver-white to intense gold. Size10–20 mm Colorwhite, silver, gold MolluskPinctada maxima Approx. price€500 – €50,000 Mysterious Tahitian Pearl French Polynesia The only truly black pearl in nature. Green, blue, or purple reflections — a spectacle of iridescence against a dark background. Size8–16 mm Colorblack, green, purple MolluskPinctada margaritifera Approx. price€200 – €20,000 Accessible Freshwater Pearl China · Japan The only one cultivated without a solid nucleus — almost entirely composed of nacre. Varied shape, pastel colors, the most accessible price of all. Size4–13 mm Colorwhite, pink, lavender MolluskHyriopsis cumingii Approx. price€20 – €1,500 Wild Natural Pearl — the coreless treasure Formed without human intervention, in the wild. Extremely rare, almost exclusively on the auction market. Ultra-rare Wild Natural Pearl Persian Gulf · Sri Lanka · Myanmar · Red Sea An accident of nature — no introduced nucleus, formed spontaneously. 99% of natural pearls were harvested until the mid-20th century, almost completely depleting mollusk populations. Today, an authentic natural pearl is sold at Christie's or Sotheby's. Internal structurepure, concentric nacre VerificationX-rays (GIA gemologist) Typical shapebaroque, rarely spherical Approx. price€10,000 – €1,000,000+ Availabilityauction exclusive Quick Comparison Type Nucleus Formation Time Luster Rarity Wild Natural Absent 10–30 years Exceptional Extreme Cultured Akoya Spherical, donor mantle 1–3 years Metallic, vibrant Moderate Cultured South Sea Large spherical, mother-of-pearl 2–5 years Velvety, deep High Cultured Tahitian Spherical, donor mantle 1.5–3 years Iridescent, spectral Moderate Cultured Freshwater Absent (tissue nucleus) 2–7 years Diffuse, pearlescent Low Note for the discerning buyer The term "natural pearl" is often incorrectly used in trade to designate any real pearl (including cultured ones). From a gemological perspective, a true natural pearl is exclusively one formed without any human intervention. When buying, explicitly ask for a GIA or SSEF certificate that states: natural pearl, no indications of cultivation.

Beyond Fast Fashion: 3 European Brands Redefining Elegance

In the era of commercial standardization, where algorithms and large chain stores dictate what we wear, finding a unique stylistic identity has become a challenge. When all the shop windows on major boulevards and online look the same, where can we find clothes that value structure, fiber quality, and a cut that doesn't expire after one season? True style is not found in mass production. It hides in those European workshops that have refused to sacrifice craftsmanship on the altar of volume. In this guide by Quasso Insights, we analyze three exclusive women's fashion brands that deserve to be on your radar if you value the quality label. 1. Polin et Moi: Reinterpreting Parisian refinement There's a certain nonchalance in the way Romanian and French women view fashion — a desire to look impeccable without appearing to have tried too hard. The brand Polin et Moi captures exactly this essence. Inspired by classic Parisian aesthetics, this brand successfully combines subtle romanticism with structured tailoring pieces. Their collections are not made to be admired only in the window; they are versatile pieces, designed for the dynamism of a busy day. What sets them apart: The materials are carefully selected to provide comfort, and the cuts follow soft geometric lines that flatter the silhouette without constricting it. It is the definition of elegance you can wear from Monday to Sunday. 2. Rivera: The Spanish lesson in artisanal craftsmanship Founded in the 70s, the Spanish brand Rivera is living proof that tradition and modernity can perfectly coexist in a garment. If Polin et Moi brings a Parisian air, Rivera comes with the versatility and quality of "Made in Spain" construction. Every Rivera piece is the result of a controlled process by skilled artisans, where attention to finishing and interior details is reminiscent of traditional tailoring. The brand excels in the use of premium materials, including natural fabrics and high-quality leather, building resort and smart-casual pieces that stand the test of time. What sets them apart: The technology and ergonomic construction of the clothes. They create clothes that feel good from the first wear, eliminating the rigidity specific to formal pieces and offering a luxury that doesn't need to be shouted to be noticed. 3. Manit: Personality and Mediterranean spirit directly from Barcelona If the first two brands rely on classic elegance, Manit (coming directly from vibrant Barcelona) brings an added attitude and contemporaneity to the equation. It is a brand designed especially for the modern woman who uses clothes as an extension of her strength and personality. Manit collections stand out for their versatility and ability to quickly transition from a business context to an elegant dinner. Their lines are often fluid, inspired by Mediterranean relaxation, but remain anchored in a clear structure through well-thought-out design details (highlighted shoulders, sculptural collars, rich textures). What sets them apart: The perfect balance between femininity and power. Manit clothes convey confidence and a subtle avant-garde aesthetic, ideal for those who want to express their individuality through premium details. Quasso Insights Conclusion: "Made in Quality" as the sole criterion Choosing a brand should not be dictated by the logo on the label or its presence in all malls around the world. When you invest in a piece from brands like Polin et Moi, Rivera, or Manit, you are actually paying for hours of design, for the quality of the stitching, and for the respect for the wearer. In 2026, luxury means knowing what you wear. It means turning the garment inside out and being as impressed by the interior finishes as you are by its visual impact.   https://sovrn.co/1opuwr7

Made in Italy vs. Made in China: Mai este tara de origine un indicator de calitate?

Made in Italy vs. Made in China: Is the country of origin still an indicator of quality?

For decades, the "Made in Italy" label was the equivalent of a guarantee certificate, while "Made in China" was synonymous with cheap and short-lived production. In 2026, the reality behind these labels is much more complex, and the boundary between them has become extremely fine. The question remains: what are we really paying for when we choose the origin of a garment? The "Made in Italy" Myth: Heritage and Legislation When we read "Made in Italy," our brain activates the Halo Effect: we imagine an old artisan in a Tuscan workshop, handcrafting a pair of shoes. In reality, European legislation allows this label to be applied even if a large part of the manufacturing process took place in another country, as long as the "last substantial transformation" occurred in Italy. Nevertheless, Italy remains a leader for a technical reason: the ecosystem. The proximity between fabric mills (such as those in Biella for wool) and tailoring workshops creates a quality control chain that is difficult to replicate. It's about a culture of detail that has been passed down genetically. The New Face of China: "Premium Manufacturing" China is no longer just the "world's factory" for disposable items. In the last decade, production centers have emerged in areas like Shenzhen or Guangzhou that use state-of-the-art technologies that Europe has not yet implemented. Many luxury brands produce complex pieces in China because their 3D knitting or laser cutting machines are superior. Quality is no longer about geography, but about Production Specifications (Tech Pack). If a brand demands quality and pays the right price, China can deliver impeccable execution. The Paradox of "Made in Italy" with External Labor There is a grey reality in cities like Prato, where thousands of factories owned by Chinese entrepreneurs produce clothing on Italian soil to legally use the desired label. Here, "Made in Italy" becomes a marketing strategy, not necessarily a guarantee of traditional working methods. Criteria for evaluating quality: If you want to know if a garment is worth the investment, ignore the country of origin and check the following mechanisms: 1. Material composition: Natural fibers (wool, silk, cotton) will always be superior to a synthetic blend, regardless of where they are sewn. In addition, check the places where two pieces of fabric meet (shoulders, pockets, side seams). If the garment has stripes or plaid and they don't align perfectly at the seam, it means the material was cut en masse, without care for waste, to save meters of fabric. In true luxury, visual continuity is sacred. 2. "Plastic bag" lining: If the exterior is fine wool, but the lining is 100% polyester, the garment will retain heat and unpleasant odors. Authentic luxury uses linings made of natural or semi-natural fibers (cupro, viscose, acetate), which allow the skin to breathe. Polyester in the lining is the cheapest way to finish a garment, nullifying the benefits of the expensive outer fabric. 3. Hem quality and fabric allowance: Turn the trousers or skirt inside out. A quality garment has a generous hem (3-5 cm) and a fabric allowance at the inner seams. Brands that produce at minimal cost cut the material "to the bone" to save a few cents per unit, which means the garment can never be altered by a tailor to be adjusted. 4. Seams: Turn the garment inside out. If you see cheap "overlock" instead of French or covered seams, the country of origin doesn't matter – costs have been cut. In technical tailoring terminology, overlock (popularly known in Romania as "surfilat") is a type of stitch made by a special machine that performs three functions simultaneously: it sews two pieces of fabric, trims the excess edge, and wraps the cut edge with threads to prevent fraying. Most "ready-to-wear" garments (t-shirts, hoodies, jeans) are assembled almost exclusively with overlock. It is an extremely fast and efficient method, as the stitch is elastic, making it ideal for jersey or knitted fabrics that stretch. While essential in mass production, the visible presence of overlock inside a jacket, coat, or evening dress is an indicator of cost reduction. In luxury tailoring (High-End): The edges of the material are not left with overlock. They are "closed" with French seams (where the edge is folded inward and sewn again) or are "piped" (covered with a separate band of silk or satin). In fast fashion production: Overlock is the universal method. If you turn a "luxury" jacket inside out and see that zigzag stitch that leaves the fabric edge visible, it means the brand has chosen the shortest and cheapest finishing method. An overlock stitch is secure, but it can easily unravel if a single thread is snagged. In contrast, luxury finishes (such as the English seam or piping) protect the material much better in the long term, preventing direct friction of the edges against the body or other layers of clothing. 5. Buttons and accessories: Horn or corozo buttons and metal zippers (Riri or YKK premium) are better indicators of luxury than a geographic label. Plastic buttons (which feel warm and light to the touch) instead of horn, mother-of-pearl, or corozo are the first sign of economizing. Furthermore, check if the button has a "shank" made of thread that raises it slightly above the fabric. If it is sewn flat and tight to the fabric, it will tension the material and break quickly – a clear sign of cheap industrial automation. Conclusion In 2026, the country of origin is more an indicator of marketing cost and social positioning. True quality has become universal. A well-made garment is the result of rigorous technical specifications, not GPS coordinates. At Quasso, we believe that "Made in Quality" is the only label you need to keep an eye on.

Arta purarii Imprimeurilor: Cum definim vara 2026

The Art of Wearing Prints: How We Define Summer 2026

Summer 2026 marks a definitive break from loud prints, instead proposing a return to organic origins. The pattern is no longer a simple ornament applied to the material, but becomes an extension of the environment and the texture of the fiber. The aesthetic of this season is governed by the delicate balance between forms and the fluidity of nature, offering an elegance that seems perceptible rather than visual. The prints that define this summer are elegant, natural, and full of personality, structured on five essential pillars that redefine the modern wardrobe. 1. Reinterpreted Stripes and Soft Geometry Instead of mathematical and rigid lines, we encounter strokes that seem shaped by wind or water. This "controlled imperfection" gives clothes a sculptural dynamic, eliminating the visual aggressiveness of classic stripes. This year's geometry is gentle, with shapes that flow naturally on the body, maintaining an air of relaxed and authentic luxury. 2. Abstract Botanicals and Natural Contrast Vegetal elements are rendered through diffused silhouettes, eliminating the visual clutter of traditional floral prints. The chromatic palette is based on earthy tones—olive, ochre, and sand—which perfectly negotiate with the strong midday light. These prints are elegant, natural, and full of discreet personality, designed to complement the wearer, not overshadow them. 3. Textured Micro-Patterns For those who prefer subtle detail, micro-patterns add depth to materials without overloading the silhouette. They transform the textile surface into a complex tactile experience, where the quality of the fiber becomes the main protagonist. Design thus becomes a matter of finesse and observation, ideal for a refined social context. The conclusion for summer 2026 is a pragmatic one: elegance results from the garment's ability to reflect the environment in an abstract and balanced way. By choosing these strategic patterns, you don't just wear a print, but a calculated, distinguished state of mind perfectly adapted to contemporary style requirements. Quasso's Advice for Wearing Patterns: When choosing a strong print, let the cut remain simple. A complex patterned piece needs room to breathe – pair it with raw metal accessories (matte gold or antique silver) and natural textures, such as linen or raw silk.

Women's trousers: from prohibition to engineering. And why they are one of the most important pieces of clothing.

If men's trousers are, in essence, a uniform—stable, repetitive, almost unchanged for over a century—women's trousers are their opposite: a garment constantly negotiating with society, the body, and technology. It's not just a piece of clothing. It is one of the few items in the modern wardrobe that has gone through prohibition, scandal, reinterpretation, and, finally, technical optimization. And what makes it truly interesting is not that it has become accepted, but how it continues to transform. 1. Trousers as a political gesture, not a style choice Until relatively recently, trousers were not an option for women, but a transgression. I didn't know that: in many 19th-century European cities, women wearing trousers was legally classified as "cross-dressing," and this could lead to fines or even arrest. It wasn't about fashion, but about social order. The Parisian law of 1800, which prohibited women from wearing trousers without official permission, technically remained active until 2013. Although it was no longer enforced, its existence showed how deeply rooted the idea was that trousers did not belong to women. When Marlene Dietrich appeared in public wearing trousers in the 1930s, the reaction was not one of curiosity, but of institutional rejection. The threat of arrest was not symbolic. What's interesting is that the change didn't come from direct protest, but from aesthetics. Dietrich didn't "fight" the system, but made trousers look inevitable. The Le Smoking moment, launched by Yves Saint Laurent in 1966, marked the transition from tolerance to acceptance, but not without resistance. Restaurants refused entry to women dressed in suits, and some of them found a simple and ironic solution: they would take off their trousers and enter wearing only the jacket, like a dress. Women's trousers did not enter the wardrobe through adaptation, but through tension. 2. The real difference: not the cut, but the physics of the material If for men's trousers the rules are relatively fixed—structure, resistance, uniformity—in feminine design, everything stems from the interaction between material and body. Here lies the major difference: women's trousers are not just built to stand still, but to move with the body. I didn't know that: a pair of trousers might look identical on a hanger, but their behavior changes completely depending on the "fiber tension," meaning how the material responds to movement and weight. For example: Classic wool, without elastane, has structural memory but does not tolerate intense movement. Wool with elastane (introduced in the 80s) allows it to return to its original shape after hours of wear. Viscose and lyocell have a controlled drape but require balance to avoid creating unwanted bulk. This "invisible engineering" is what makes the difference between trousers that look good only during a fitting and those that work all day long. 3. Technical details most people don't notice A good pair of trousers is not defined by its visible design, but by things most people never check. I didn't know that: The position of pockets can optically change the shape of the hips. A pocket placed 2 cm higher can create a lengthening effect. The width of the waistband influences the stability of the trousers on the body. A wider waistband distributes tension more evenly. The angle of the inseam affects how the trousers "fall" on the leg, especially when walking. A heavier hem helps the trousers fall straight and not "float" when walking. These things are not visible at first glance, but they are exactly what separates a well-constructed piece from a mediocre one. 4. "The Rise" - the detail that changes everything The most important element in women's trousers is not the length or the cut, but the waist height. It is, in fact, the point where the entire proportion of the body is decided. High-rise creates visual continuity and elongates the silhouette, being the most stable choice aesthetically. Mid-rise is the easiest to wear, but also the easiest to "lose" visually. Low-rise, although it periodically returns, fragments the body line and requires very good control of the rest of the outfit. I didn't know that: the difference between trousers that "flatter" and those that don't is often just 2-3 cm in the waist area. 5. What's happening now: between volume and technology The current direction is not one of simplification, but of refinement. The "puddle pants" trend, where trousers are intentionally longer and bunch over the shoe, is not just an aesthetic element but a reaction to years of rigid and short cuts. It's a return to fluidity, but controlled through heavier and more stable materials. In parallel, material technology is advancing rapidly. Memory denim eliminates the "sagging knee" effect through fibers that return to their original shape. Cellulose-derived fibers (including from algae or citrus) are beginning to replace silk, offering similar luster but with greater durability. Seamless technology, through 3D knitting, eliminates side seams and creates trousers that behave like a second skin. I didn't know that: some of these materials are tested to withstand hundreds of movement cycles without visible deformation. 6. Useful tricks: how to choose and wear trousers that actually work Beyond history and materials, the real difference appears in simple, yet rarely explained things. Most people don't choose the wrong trousers because they lack taste, but because they don't know what to look for. I didn't know that: A useful first test is movement. Trousers shouldn't be evaluated standing still in front of a mirror, but by walking, sitting, and standing up. If the material bunches in tension areas or loses its shape after a few movements, it won't work long-term, no matter how good it initially looks. The true length isn't checked standing still, but in motion. Many trousers seem correct statically, but become too short or too long dynamically. A well-chosen hem should lightly touch the shoe without rigidly stopping above it. The waist position should be chosen based on proportions, not trend. If the upper body is shorter, a very high waist can visually unbalance the silhouette. Conversely, for shorter legs, the same high waist can create a lengthening effect. Materials that feel "soft" to the touch are not always the best. Often, a slightly firmer material will look better after a few hours of wear because it maintains its structure and doesn't deform. Another ignored detail is color in relation to wear. Very dark trousers tend to highlight creases and wear marks more quickly, while medium or textured shades better mask imperfections that appear throughout the day. If the front pockets gape when you stand straight, the trousers are either too tight or the cut is not right for your body. This is one of the quickest signs that the piece isn't working, even if it otherwise seems to fit. Ultimately, perhaps the simplest criterion is this: if you feel the need to constantly "adjust" your trousers throughout the day—pull them up, arrange them, smooth them out—it means they are not built for you. Quasso's Conclusion Women's trousers are not merely an alternative to skirts, nor an adaptation of men's wardrobes. They are the result of an evolution that combines social restrictions, technical innovation, and an increasingly precise understanding of the body. If in the past they were a symbol of liberation, today they are an example of optimization: a piece that must function, not just look good. And the real difference doesn't lie in the visible design, but in all those invisible decisions that make a pair of trousers worn once or for years.

Efectul de Halo: Psihologia din spatele primei impresii in negociere

The Halo Effect: The Psychology Behind First Impressions in Negotiation

In business, objectivity is a myth. As much as we’d like to believe that decisions are made exclusively based on numbers and logic, the human brain uses cognitive shortcuts to evaluate the interlocutor before they utter the first word. The most powerful of these shortcuts is the Halo Effect. What is the Halo Effect? It is a cognitive bias where the general impression of a person ("they look impeccable") influences how we evaluate their specific traits ("they are a capable professional," "they are trustworthy," "they are disciplined"). In the context of a negotiation, if your external appearance communicates precision and attention to detail, the interlocutor will tend to attribute the same qualities to your business proposal. The mechanics of perception in negotiation 1. Visual authority and trust A well-structured outfit—a jacket with correctly defined shoulders, a clean line to the trousers—functions as psychological armor. This not only gives you confidence but signals to your negotiating partner that you are a person in control. Logic: If you have the discipline to manage your image down to the smallest detail, the other person's brain infers that you will have the same discipline in managing a contract or a complex project. 2. Competence inferred through details When you wear clothes that fit you perfectly (tailoring), you eliminate visual "noise." Clothes that are too large suggest carelessness or insecurity, while those that are too tight suggest discomfort. Impact in Halo: A balanced silhouette allows the interlocutor to focus on your message, having already "ticked the box" next to your professional competence. 3. The role of colors and textures Dark colors (navy blue, charcoal grey) activate the area of respect and authority in the collective subconscious. Quality textures (high-twist wool, dense cotton) add a tactile dimension to success. The effect: In negotiation, these elements reduce the partner's resistance. You are perceived as a "peer" or even an authority figure, which makes your arguments more easily accepted. How to use the Halo Effect to your advantage: Uniform as strategy: Don't dress for the job you have, but for the outcome you want to achieve in that meeting. Invest in contact points: Shoes, watch, and bag are the first elements scanned. If these are of quality, the rest of the outfit benefits from their halo of luxury and stability. Consistency: The Halo Effect collapses at the first inconsistency. If your appearance is impeccable, but your speech is disorganized, the contrast will be devastating. The image must be the promise that your substance delivers. Quasso Conclusion External appearance is not a form of vanity, but an instrument for streamlining negotiation. When you use the Halo Effect correctly, half the persuasion work is done before you open your mouth. The rest is up to you.

De la Office la Vernisaj in 2 minute

From Office to Vernissage in 2 minutes

Time is the most precious resource, and a garment's ability to "navigate" between different social contexts is the ultimate design test. If you have a well-defined "personal uniform," you don't need a suitcase in the trunk to transition from a business meeting to a cultural event. It all lies in the mechanics of the detail. Here's how to reconfigure the same basic pieces to change your social register in just 120 seconds. 1. Play of Light: The Mid-Layer At the office, your jacket or blazer remains closed, communicating rigor. For an exhibition opening, relaxation comes from opening up the structure. Maneuver: Unbutton your jacket and slightly roll up your sleeves (if the fabric structure allows). Effect: You transition from a closed, defensive silhouette to a dynamic one. If you're wearing fine knitwear under your jacket, let it become the central point of light in your outfit. 2. The Foundation: Footwear Footwear dictates the social "height" of your outfit. Maneuver: Swap your Oxford or Derby shoes for a pair of suede Chelsea boots or minimalist matte leather sneakers. Effect: Suede absorbs light and communicates a tactile elegance, much more suitable for a relaxed, art gallery setting than the formal sheen of office shoes. 3. The Contrast Detail: Metallic Accessory or Watch A watch with a metal bracelet or a belt with a well-crafted buckle can radically change the visual weight of your hand. Maneuver: If you wear a minimalist watch with a leather strap to the office, for the evening you can opt for a more robust metal bracelet or simply change the way you wear accessories (for example, forgo the tie and leave the top button of your shirt open). Effect: Exposing your neck and adding a metallic element that reflects the artificial light of the gallery draws attention to your posture, not your professional function. 4. Storage: From Briefcase to Pouch Nothing says "I just came from work" more clearly than a bulky laptop bag carried to a cocktail party. Maneuver: Leave your office bag in the car. Take only the essentials in a larger wallet (pouch) or simply use the interior pockets of your jacket, which are specifically designed not to distort the garment's line. Effect: Free hands and a clean silhouette change the way you interact with people. You become a participant in the event, not a visitor in transit. 5. The Final Texture: Perfume The change of context is not just visual, but also olfactory. Maneuver: Apply a perfume with denser notes (sandalwood, leather, or amber) over your fresh morning base. Effect: You create an evening "aura" that complements the visual. It's your internal signal that the workday has ended. Quasso Conclusion A personal uniform is not a stylistic prison, but a foundation. If your basic pieces have a correct cut and quality materials, they are a blank canvas that you can paint depending on the hour. It's not the garment that changes, but how you "wear" it.
